About Hearing

Hearing is essential to enjoying everyday life. Because hearing loss is so gradual, many people do not realize the damaging effects that occur when hearing changes. And with the aging of the baby boomer generation, hearing loss has become an even greater healthcare concern. Close to 30 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss. Some experience hearing loss due to genetics, others due to the environment in which they surround themselves, and many due to the process of aging.

Helen Keller called deafness "a worse misfortune than being blind - when you lose your vision you lose contact with things, when you lose your hearing you lose contact with people."
