Helping people in any way I can has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and I’ve always known I wanted to work in healthcare.
When I first started at HearUSA, I was also in school working toward my bachelor’s degree in health administration. This was my first “big girl job,” and it felt like the perfect opportunity to put my foot in the door and begin building a career centered around care, compassion, and service to others.
The depth of knowledge behind hearing health was something I had never expected. I wasn’t aware of how detailed hearing evaluations were, let alone how much went into servicing and maintaining hearing aids.
Over the years, I’ve learned so much, and all of that knowledge is something I plan to carry with me as I continue to grow in my career.
I’ve now been with HearUSA for four years, and during that time I’ve seen growth in both my personal and professional life. Personally, this role has shown me just how important compassion and kindness truly are.
I make it a priority to treat every person who walks through our doors with care and respect. That mindset has followed me outside of work too, allowing me to pour that same patience and love into my family and friends. It has strengthened my relationships and helped me become a more understanding and empathetic person overall.
Professionally, my goal is always for clients to leave feeling supported, confident, and happy with their experience. Seeing a smile on someone’s face lets me know I’ve done my job. Even small moments of reassurance can make a big difference, and that’s what motivates me every day.
One moment that always stays with me was when a walk-in client came in with hearing aids he hadn’t worn in a long time. He asked if they could be serviced, so I gave them a thorough cleaning. Almost immediately, they started working again. When I handed them back, he looked shocked and then became emotional. He told me, “You don’t understand how grateful I am. No one has been able to help me, but you did.” That moment reminded me exactly why I chose this field.
Since starting my career at HearUSA, I’ve been recognized by both clients and leadership for my dedication, which makes me incredibly proud. I see the impact of that every day through our returning clients and the trust they place in us.
If HearUSA is a path you’re considering, I truly think it would be one of the best decisions you could make. Even though our coworkers are spread across different centers, it still feels like a family. Whether it’s through in-person events or a quick phone call, you’re never alone. Everyone looks out for one another.
